The Flea Market, Main Street, Save Easy Parking Lot

Early on the inclement weather demanded warmer clothing or rain gear. This is a typical view looking southward one one of four "aisles" paralleling Main Street. The red building is the Gazebo Cafe. The bandstand itself is situated on the Bay out of sight to the left of this building.

The middle photograph illustrates the occasional appearance of antique "pickers" and "dealers" who come here looking for bargains. Quite often they are not disappointed as the flea market vendors are not selliong from a prime location in a big city.

A fundraiser for the Mahone Bay Lions Club, the Outdoor Fleamarket opens in May when the Indoor version closes at the fire hall. It is held in the Save-Easy parking lot each Sunday morning commencing at 9 am and ending in the later afternoon. Until this year, it opened after church hours but the hours have ben changed reflecting the fact that it had little influence on church-going and has been hugely attractive to out-of-own visitors.

One way of escaping hostile weather. There has been plenty of that this year and a few weekends saw this market closed down by a combination of fog, wind and incessant  rain. By mid-July that situation altered and the sun aftterwards appeared quite rgularly by 11 am.
