The Three Churches, Edgewater Street

THe Anglican Church in early spring, 2009. seen from a parking lot.The first church for this denomination was built on a height of land near above the pioneer cemetary.

The Presbyterians were located just next door in even closer proximity than is now the case. During the nineteenth century parishoners had their church dragged off the hill to a new location on the flat of land at Edgewater Street. Their building is furtherest to thr right and lost its steeple to storm in the twentieth century.

Canon Ned Harris of the Anglican communion fearing that the Presbyterians would attract more walk-by trade, had his architect-brother built this grand new church. The old church was sold as surplus for a pittance.
